  12. Windows 95 has made a lot of things easier, but should
  13. you ever have a file with the wrong extension, it can
  14. be extremely tedious trying to get Windows 95 to let
  15. you change its file type. Changext makes this simple.
  16.  
  17. To install Change Extension, simply copy "Change 
  18. Extension.EXE" into a directory of your choice. 
  19. Then create a shortcut to Change Extension.EXE in your 
  20. \Windows\SendTo folder. 
  21.  
  22. You also need the Visual Basic 4.0 runtime libraries
  23. in your system folder. If you don't have them, get
  24. the file http://www.inpros.com/Hollander/vb4run.zip and
  25. unzip it into your System folder.
  26. (get it - you'll need it for other apps too, and not
  27. just mine!)

  29. To change the extension of a file, simply right-click
  30. on the file, and choose Change Extension) from the 
  31. SendTo submenu.

  33. Note the extension does NOT need to be three characters,
  34. you can give a file a .HTML or .JPEG or whatever and
  35. new Win95 apps should recognise them fine.

  37. Version 2.0a fixes a problem with 2.0 in renaming files
  38. which have no extension to start with.
  39. Version 2.0b fixes a problem in renaming hidden and
  40. system files, and directories.
